Judy’s Story
What was life like before joint replacement?
Ten years before my surgeries, a boulder rolled onto my legs and dislocated my hip. Arthritis developed, and 10 years later, I had both hips replaced. During the last two to three years, I had gradually stopped going for walks with my husband, biking, hiking and doing household chores.
What was the moment you knew you needed to move ahead with surgery?
The turning point for me was when I started giving up everyday things like walking, biking, hiking and chores.
What is life like now?
Recovery was great. I only took one Tylenol the first night after surgery. There was some pain, but it wasn’t that bad, and I was driving again within about 10 days.
What advice would you give others considering joint replacement?
Having joint replacement surgery was the best thing I could have done. I wish I would have done it earlier, like two to three years sooner.
