Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies has taken the top spot in the Health Industry category on the 2021 AFR BOSS Best Places to Work list
Sydney, 21 April 2021 – Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is honoured to be recognised as one of Australia and New Zealand’s Best Places to Work for its commitment to delivering industry leading programs to enable employees to be at their best.
Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies was ranked first on the Health Industries list, among 1,000 nominated organisations, in multiple categories, across Australia and New Zealand. The prestigious annual list, published by The Australian Financial Review and BOSS Magazine, is based on a rigorous assessment process managed by Australia’s leading behavioural science consultancy, Inventium.
Katrina Symons, Head of Human Resources for Johnson & Johnson ANZ, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies recognised as a Best Place to Work. At the centre of everything we do – the values that guide our decision making – is Our Credo – our commitment and responsibility to; the patients, doctors, nurses, mothers, fathers that use our products and services; our employees; the communities in which we live and work; and our shareholders.
"We are proud to be recognised for our ongoing efforts to create an environment where our people can feel inspired, connected and supported every day – and to be implementing initiatives and programs that are innovative and industry leading.”
Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies operates across three sectors and is led by Susan Martin, managing director Medical Devices, Biljana Naumovic, managing director Pharmaceuticals, and Charmaine England, managing director Consumer Health.
As a company that prides itself on its mission to change the trajectory of health for humanity, the Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies has developed a range of health and wellness initiatives for its employees to become the healthiest workforce possible. These include Energy for Performance (E4P) training to help individuals become physically energised, emotionally connected, and mentally focused to live a more purposeful life both inside and outside work. Participation in the training resulted in 18 percent higher likelihood of receiving a top performance rating. The company also runs regular Mental Wellbeing seminars to support individuals in putting their mental health first and is one of the founding organisations in the Corporate Mental Wellbeing Alliance.
Today’s win follows on from the 2020 Australian HR Awards where the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies took top honours in the ‘Best Health & Wellbeing Program’ category.
The company was also recognised for its strong line up of benefits for employees, including flexible work choices, parental leave, 4-day work weeks, compressed working weeks/hours, annual lifestyle day, onsite and virtual gym classes, and exercise reimbursement up to $600/year.
Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies was also one of 17 companies to achieve the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Employer of Choice for Gender Equity citation in 2021.
“While diversity, equity and inclusion has always been a focus for Johnson & Johnson, within a hybrid environment, this is now absolutely paramount, and we are striving to ensure that we embed a culture that not only treats everyone equally, but actively seeks input from all,” said Katrina Symons.
As a key commitment of its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies is helping to create a society where our First Nations people live a life free of racism, oppression, and injustice, with high levels of health, wellbeing, and economic prosperity. A key component of its RAP is a First Nations Cross Cultural Awareness Program. The program is designed to improve cross-cultural competency, provide a better understanding of Aboriginal history, and understand our place in that story. Employees who participate in the program have proven to become more culturally aware, empathetic, and increase their commitment to give back to communities in need.
Employees are also encouraged to offer their time through volunteering, and more than half have taken voluntary leave to work in community programs. During the 2020 Australian bushfire season, the company offered uncapped leave for its employees to support the Rural Fire Service fighting fires.
Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies demonstrated an unwavering commitment to its community of customers, patients, and employees – from fast-tracking Band-Aid sanitiser, implementing virtual in-theatre support options for surgeons, working with patient groups to support people living with auto-immune conditions and cancer, and delivering product care packs to employees’ homes during lockdown. The company also provided up to 14 weeks paid Medical Personnel Leave to employees who were qualified health professionals and wished to support frontline COVID-19 health workers.
