Procedure Overview

Laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy involves removing an ovarian cyst with laparoscopic instruments. It involves also incision, enucleating and identifying if ovarian reconstruction is necessary or an oophorectomy if there is extensive bleeding. 

INDICATIONS & OBJECTIVES

Laparoscopic Ovarian Cystectomy may be done for different reasons, including, but not limited to:
•    Ovarian cyst that can cause pelvic pain, or intermittent or lead to ovarian torsion.
•    Suspected or indeterminant ovarian cyst that pathology is needed to determine.
•    Ovarian cysts that are non-physiologic that will not resolve on their own, or physiologic cysts that continue to grow and can cause clinical symptoms.
