Procedure overview

Laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy, involves removal of the sigmoid colon affected by disease, followed by anastomoses to reconnect descending colon with the upper rectum.

  • Diverticulosis/diverticulitis
  • Cancer
  • Colonic stricture
  • Inflammatory bowel disease
  • GI bleeding
  • Ischemic colitis
  • Volvulus
