- Patient is placed in the dorsal lithotomy position in candy cane stirrups with her hips at the edge of the table and her thighs flexed on the abdomen.
- The knee and hip joints are flexed with her feet straight up.
- The patients' arms are placed outward on arm boards.


- The patient is prepped and draped in the usual fashion for a vaginal procedure.
- The primary surgeon is usually sitting at the end of the operating table with one assistant on each side of the primary surgeon.
- The vaginal hysterectomy tray is open on the back table, suction irrigation is hooked up and surgical energy is available.
