Clinical value - ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars

Published Evidence
How much pneumoperitoneum gas leaks into your OR? SAGES recommends following best practices for laparoscopy to minimize trocar gas leakage, and ALSGBI recommends the use of techniques to minimize possible aerosolization from port sites. Choosing the right trocar can help minimize pneumoperitoneum gas leaks. In benchtop testing, ENDOPATH XCEL™ 5mm Trocars had the lowest and most consistent leak rates of leading 5mm trocars.1AB

Head-to-head testing
ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars with OPTIVIEW™ Technology cut endoscope rewipes in half, which reduces the disruption of rewiping the endoscope and minimizes the cumulative time spent cleaning the endoscope.2,3C
In bench top testing, ENDOPATH XCEL™ with OPTIVIEW™ had the most effective smudge reduction compared to other leading 5mm and 12mm trocars.2,3C

ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars, with smudge mitigation
Trocars and access
Choose ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars for control4,5D-G and consistency.6-8,A-C Johnson & Johnson MedTech offers flexibility across surgical specialties, so you can choose the right trocars for the right job at the right time.
Designed for camera ports, OPTIVIEW™ Technology uses wiping, wicking and absorbing to reduce smudging during endoscope reinsertions.2,3C
ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars had higher abdominal wall retention force5DE and lower insertion force5FI than Applied or Medtronic trocars. ENDOPATH XCEL™ 5mm Trocars had the lowest leak rates of leading 5mm trocars.1A
The ENDOPATH Pneumoneedle Insufflation Needle and Ultra Veress Needle are used to establish pneumoperitoneum prior to abdominal endoscopy.9,10

Simplify your sourcing
Multiple & single clip appliers
Johnson & Johnson MedTech is the only company with a complete portfolio of multiple clip and single clip devices9 for all of your open and endoscopic surgery needs.
Supports standardization & SKU reduction goals
All clips feature proprietary lateral and transverse grooves designed for secure fixation on the structure and increased resistance to dislodgment of a formed clip10
Economic segment provides reusable clip appliers for open and endoscopic procedures

Ligate securely through a 5mm port
LIGAMAX™ 5 Endoscopic Clip Applier
No other leading clip applier provides greater in-jaw clip retention to reduce clip dislodgement.11H
LIGAMAX™ 5 is engineered for reliable clip engagement and retention by remaining in contact throughout the duration of the firing cycle.11
Delivers clips that stay in place. LIGAMAX™ 5 provided 1.5 times greater on‐structure clip security in the axial direction compared to the Applied Medical Epix® Universal 5mm to reduce clip dislodgement.11I

A. On a benchtop test measuring leak rate with a 4.7mm probe inserted, Ethicon B5LT leaked significantly less than Medtronic ONB5STF, Applied Medical CFR03 and Applied Medical CTR03. B5LT leak rate distribution was significantly less than CTR03, although the medians were both zero.
B. On a benchtop test measuring leak rate with a 4.7mm probe, B5LT leak rate standard deviation was 82% less than ONB5STF, 93% less than CFR03 and 88% less than CTR03.
C. In bench top tests comparing mean number of insertions for 5mm trocars out of 10 insertions with a quality index score of 92 or higher for 2B5LT (6.4) to CFR03/CTR03/CTF03 (0.5), VS101005 (0.4), p<0.05. In bench top tests comparing mean number of insertions for 12mm trocars out of 15 insertions with a quality index score of 92 or higher for 2B12LT (11.6) to CTF73/CFF73/CFR73/C0R47 (0.4), VS101012P (1.6), p<0.05. Quality index score of 92 or higher indicates a less than 20% chance of having to re‐wipe the endoscope lens due to trocar induced smudging.
D. In pre-clinical testing, average abdominal wall retention force, B5LT/2B5LT (9.8lbs) vs CTF03 (5.9lbs), p<0.001.
E. In pre-clinical testing, average abdominal wall retention force, B5LT/2B5LT (9.8 ± 2.6 lbf) vs. CTF03 (5.9 ± 1.3 lbf), p<0.001, n=24.
F. In pre-clinical testing, average abdominal wall insertion force, B12LT (19.9lbs +/- 3.6lbs) vs. CFF73 (24.4lbs +/- 3.2lbs), n=24, p<0.001.
G. In pre-clinical testing, average abdominal wall insertion force, B12LT/2B12LT (18.3lbs) vs VS101012P (27.7lbs), p<0.001.
H. Benchtop testing comparing the median force required to dislodge a partially formed clip from the jaws of the LIGAMAX 5 vs. leading competitive devices with anti-backup mechanism (Covidien ENDO CLIP III). Clip closed to 1st ratchet point after distal clip tips touch. (Axial: 3.948lbs (n=40) vs 0.137 (n=41), p<0.0001; Transverse: 3.629lbs (n=47) vs 2.033 (n=45), p<0.0001).
I. Benchtop testing on an elastomeric vessel model comparing median axial force required to displace a properly formed LIGAMAX 5 clip (n= vs Applied Medical Epix Universal 5mm clip. (1.481 lbs vs 0.903, n=45 per group, p<0.0001).
