Features & Benefits

blood transfusion

Because Every Drop Matters

HEMO-SEAL™ preserves this precious resource. During surgery, bleeding can disrupt a clear surgical field and hinder visualization when you need it most. HEMO-SEAL™  Needle Suture Technology was designed with this in mind – it’s a needle-suture combination that allows a better fit of the suture in the needle hole, resulting in reduced needle hole bleeding

hemoseal tech has reduced needle hole leakage compared to prolene

The PROLENE® You Trust – but Better

Same handling. Reduced leakage. Better visualization. HEMO-SEAL™ Technology uses the same PROLENE® suture you trust, but offers reduced needle hole leakage. In a pre-clinical model, HEMO-SEAL Technology was shown to reduce needle hole leakage rate by 67% compared to the standard PROLENE Polypropylene Suture; and by 59% compared to GORE-TEX® ePTFE Nonabsorbable Monofilament Suture.1,2

prolene® polypropylene suture with hemo-seal™ technology

How HEMO-SEAL™ Technology Works

Tapered suture. 1-to-1 needle-to-suture ratio. HEMO-SEAL Technology narrows the PROLENE suture at the needle attachment site, which results in the remainder of the suture having a reduced needle-to-suture ratio. This enhanced ratio allows the bulk of the suture to adequately fill the needle hole, leading to a significant reduction in needle hole bleeding.
