ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars
Trocars are the first point of contact into a patient during minimally invasive procedures and need to do many jobs - maximize visibility and maneuverability, enable surgical flow, and minimize exposure to pneumoperitoneum gas. ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars are designed to offer the control1,2A-D and consistency3-5E-G needed throughout the procedure from open to close.
About this device
ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars are designed to provide access for endoscopic instruments and endoscopes in minimally invasive surgery. Our comprehensive portfolio includes bladeless, dilating tip, blunt tip, and universal sleeve options, available in sizes 5mm to 15mm. Bladeless trocars separate along tissue fibers during trocar insertion. Dilating tip trocars have a sharp flat-bladed tip and a spring-loaded shield for trocar insertion. Blunt tip trocars have suture stays to secure fixation to the abdominal wall.
Features & benefits

Lower leak rates
ENDOPATH XCEL™ 5mm trocars had the lowest leak rates of leading trocars.5F

Lower insertion force
ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars had lower insertion force than Applied Medical2C and Medtronic2H trocars.

Lower drag force
ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars had lower drag force than Applied Medical6I and Medtronic6J trocars.

ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars with OPTIVIEW™ Technology
Trocars are the first point of contact into a patient and need to do many jobs - maximize visibility and maneuverability, enable surgical flow, and minimize exposure to pneumoperitoneum gas. ENDOPATH XCEL™ Trocars with OPTIVIEW™ Technology are designed to reduce smudging of the endoscope upon reinsertion by wiping, wicking and absorbing fluid that builds up inside the trocar.1,2A

F. On a benchtop test measuring leak rate with a 4.7mm probe inserted, Ethicon B5LT leaked significantly less than Medtronic ONB5STF, Applied Medical CFR03 and Applied Medical CTR03. B5LT leak rate distribution was significantly less than CTR03, although the medians were both zero.
G. On a benchtop test measuring leak rate with a 4.7mm probe, B5LT leak rate standard deviation was 82% less than ONB5STF, 93% less than CFR03 and 88% less than CTR03.
