PROLENE™ Polypropylene Suture with HEMO-SEAL™ Technology
A suture needle leaves a hole larger than the suture, creating bleeding risk due to the gap. PROLENE™ Polypropylene Suture with HEMO-SEAL™ Technology is engineered with a 1-to-1 needle-to-suture ratio, effectively sealing the puncture site. This innovative approach is designed to reduce suture line bleeding and enhance surgical field visualization.1
About this device
PROLENE™ Polypropylene Suture with HEMO-SEAL™ Technology is is a monofilament, synthetic, non-absorbable, sterile surgical suture composed of an isotactic crystalline stereoisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. Its optional blue dye enhances visibility during procedures.2 With the HEMO-SEAL™ Needle suture combination, the diameter of the suture and the needle wire have been more closely aligned to reduce the degree of needle hole bleeding.1

Features & benefits

Less needle hole bleeding
Tapered suture. 1-to-1 needle-to-suture ratio. HEMO-SEAL™ Technology narrows the PROLENE™ Suture at the needle attachment site, which results in the remainder of the suture having a reduced needle-to-suture ratio. This enhanced ratio allows the bulk of the suture to adequately fill the needle hole, leading to a significant reduction in needle hole bleeding.1

Reliability of PROLENE™
HEMO-SEAL™ Technology uses the same PROLENE™ Suture you trust, but offers reduced needle hole leakage.5 PROLENE™ Sutures are nonabsorbable, sterile surgical sutures available undyed or pigmented blue to enhance visibility. PROLENE™ Sutures are relatively biologically inert, offering proven strength, reliability, and versatility.3

Strength of EVERPOINT™
PROLENE™ Polypropylene Suture with HEMO-SEAL™ Technology utilize EVERPOINT™ Cardiovascular Needles2, which has a unique silicone coating that offers outstanding penetration and maintains tip durability,6,7 up to a 38% increase in strength and up to a 121% increase in bend resistance compared to conventional stainless steel needles.8

PROLENE™ Polypropylene Suture
PROLENE™ Sutures (clear or pigmented) are non-absorbable, sterile surgical sutures composed of an isotactic crystalline steroisomer of polypropylene, a synthetic linear polyolefin. The suture is dyed blue to enhance visibility and does not adhere to tissue, making it efficacious to pull out when ready. PROLENE™ Sutures are relatively biologically inert, offering proven strength, reliability, and versatility.1,2

EVERPOINT™ Cardiovascular Needle
Cardiovascular procedures face unique challenges that demand a needle stay sharp through every pass, even through unexpected calcium deposits. We created EVERPOINT™ Needles with a high-strength tungsten-rhenium alloy that is up to 38% stronger and 121% more bend-resistant than conventional stainless steel suture needles.1
