Interventional cardiology
We are advancing the way heart failure and complex heart disease are treated. About 700,000 Americans die from heart disease each year – an estimated 1 in every 5 deaths – with coronary artery disease (CAD) being the most common type of heart disease.1-4 With Impella CP®, heart recovery is possible.
Impella CP® with SmartAssist® provides hemodynamic stability and allows the heart to rest during planned procedures such as percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) or during emergent events such as cardiomyopathy, myocarditis, or acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Impella CP with SmartAssist provides direct LV unloading by pulling blood from the left ventricle and expelling it into the aorta, increasing total cardiac output/arterial pressure and reducing myocardial oxygen consumption.

Results from the National Cardiogenic Shock Initiative (NCSI) study
The results of the physician-led NCSI Study demonstrate a 71% survival to discharge with greater than 90% native heart recovery when best practices are used, including placement of an Impella heart pump prior to revascularization (PCI).5
