Pre-operative patient care

Typical recommendations for pre-operative care may include, but are not limited to, any of the following:

  • Cardiac evaluation
  • Risk factor modification before surgery as indicated (such as diabetic control (A1c), smoking cessation)
  • Stop anticoagulation medicine for the recommended time period
  • Labwork: CBC, BMP, coagulation profile, type and crossmatch
