Features & Benefits
Oxidative Stability
The polyethylene resin is blended with an antioxidant (COVERNOX Antioxidant). The antioxidant stabilizes free radicals preventing them from oxidizing.
Wear Resistance
The polyethylene resin/COVERNOX Antioxidant mix is exposed to a level of irradiation (8 Mrads) to stimulate a moderate amount of cross-linking while delivering optimum wear characteristics without compromising mechanical integrity.
Mechanical integrity
AOX Polyethylene maintains high material strength and toughness characteristics by utilizing GUR 1020 resin, with its better inherent mechanical properties, than GUR 1050.1 The addition of an antioxidant into the material eliminates the need for re-melting or annealing, and therefore it maintains excellent mechanical properties.2

Indications for Use
Total knee arthroplasty is intended to provide increased patient mobility and reduced pain by replacing the damaged knee joint articulation in patients where there is evidence of sufficient sound bone to seat and support the components. Total knee replacement may be considered for younger patients if, in the opinion of the surgeon, an unequivocal indication for total knee replacement outweighs the risks associated with the age of the patient, and if limited demands regarding activity and knee joint loading can be assured.
