Intended for healthcare professionals

ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler

Leaks during surgery can lead to serious complications, especially in challenging cases. The ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler significantly reduced leaks at the staple line and produced greater perfusion compared to the Medtronic EEA™ Circular Stapler with Tri-Staple™ Technology.1,2A The device combines two breakthrough innovations—3D Stapling and Gripping Surface Technologies—on one consistent and reliable powered platform.

About this device

The ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler is designed for creating a secure anastomosis (when surgeons connect two tube-shaped structures). It’s available in four sizes to allow proper matching of device to diameter of the patient’s anatomy.

Specialties

Colorectal, Gastric, Thoracic

Procedures

Colorectal Resections, Gastrectomies, Gastric Bypass, Esophagectomies

Reduced leaks at the staple line3B

The performance of the ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler is validated by clinical and real-world evidence. This stapler demonstrated the following in a meta-analysis featuring 2,947 patients:

  • 50% reduction in anastomotic leak rate in colorectal procedures compared to manual circular staplers4C
  • 0.96% bleeding rate in colorectal procedures, which represented an 88% reduction compared to manual circular staplers4D

Real world evidence

Design differences matter when it comes to performance and results. ECHELON™  stapling devices have proven results across varied tissue types, patient populations and countries - in bariatric, thoracic and colorectal procedures. These findings are drawn from fourteen peer-reviewed studies covering over 47,000 patients and 700 hospitals, spanning nine countries and four continents.

Associated with improved clinical and economic outcomes5-7:

  • Reduced clinical complications
  • Reduced hospital costs
  • Improved efficiency

Features & benefits

ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler

Reduced potential leak paths8E

Designed with offset closure of the staple legs, 3D Stapling Technology evenly distributed compression throughout the anastomosis8E and reduced potential leak paths compared to the Medtronic EEA™ Stapler.8E Tissue compression can be controlled by varying the height of the closed staple.

ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler

Gentler tissue handling

Gripping Surface Technology delivers precise compression only where it is needed10G to prepare the tissue for staple formation. It also provided gentler handling, with a 38% reduction in compressive forces on tissue compared to the Medtronic EEA™ Circular Stapler with Tri-Staple™ Technology.9F

ECHELON CIRCULAR™ Powered Stapler

Increased stability11H

Designed to standardize performance across users, powered push button firing with ECHELON CIRCULAR™ delivered greater stability with less distal tip movement during firing12I and also reduced force to fire by 97% compared to the Medtronic EEA™ Circular Stapler with Tri-Staple™ Technology.13J
