In Hospital, your physiotherapy will involve:

  • Exercise to reduce your risk of complications​
  • Exercise to get your new joint moving well​
  • Teaching you the easiest and safest ways to move​
  • Helping you feel confident about managing at home

After going home, your physiotherapy will involve:

  • Maximising the movement of your new joint​
  • Improving muscle strength after speaking with your surgeon or physiotherapist​
  • Improving your general fitness​
  • Helping you to meet your goals and return to your favourite activities

A hydrotherapy program may be beneficial. Talk to your surgeon or physiotherapist.

 

The first few months after surgery involve a lot of commitment, motivation and hard work on your part to get your joint and muscles working properly. In general, the more actively you participate, the quicker your recovery will be. Your rehabilitation program is designed to meet your personal requirements.
